Reckoning by Lili St.Crow

Reviewer: kaependragon

Nobody expected Dru Anderson to survive this long. Not Graves. Not Christophe. Not even Dru. She’s battled killer zombies, jealousdjamphirs, and bloodthirsty suckers straight out of her worst nightmares. But now that Dru has bloomed into a full-fledgedsvetocha - rare, beautiful, and toxic to all vampires - the worst is yet to come.

Because getting out alive is going to cost more than she’s ever imagined. And in the end, is survival really worth the sacrifice?

DRU ANDERSON''S NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK.
BUT SHE SHOULD BE

In the final book of an amazing saga, Ms.St.Crow has created the ultimate spellbinding, hex throwing and suspense building end to Dru Anderson’s story! I simply devoured the four previous novels in this series within hours of buying them. When Reckoning graced the bookshelves of my local bookstore I had no qualms about buying it on the spot. I will admit that once it was in my hands I was utterly lost within the pages and the final chapter of Dru’s unhinged life.
The main thing that I love about these books is that Dru is such a real character. Now, I bet you often read the word ‘real’ and have your own definition but when it comes to a literary character my definition is when a character has the ability to reach from the pages and grab hold of your heart and wrap themselves around it. It’s when you become emotionally invested with the character(s) and it’s almost as if they are sitting beside you, talking to you when you are reading. Dru is this type of character, well, at least for me. In this novel you get to see and experience even more of the dark and vivid world that she has become a figurehead of, a sevtocha, a rare female half-vampire who is toxic to the nosferatu.
Despite all the hardships Dru had to go through she has come out on top, but just barely. She flees to her Grandmothers cabin in the Appalachian Mountains in hope that she will be able to lay low for while her friend Graves and broken wulf Ash can recuperate from the run in with Sergej, an evil vampire who wants to drain Dru of her blood so that he can gain the power to walk in the sun. But no such luck. Dru is betrayed by someone she trusts the most and whatever life she has left is starting to crumble. If that isn't enough Dru is having some serious boy trouble, her best friend Graves who is her rock, is in love with her and Christophe, a teenage looking dhampire who always protects her is also vying for her affections. Who will she lean on the most in times of trouble?
St.Crow is an elegant and flawless writer who has created not only the perfect ending to this series but she has also created a believable world that could just be living in the folds and shadows of our everyday life. The slight cliffhanger ending left me with the dull hope that she will write another. Well done Lili, well done.

Will Dru let this betrayal get to her or will she continue to fight and kick some sucker ass? Will Dru's life end in Sergej's clutches?

To find out, I highly suggest you pick up this series and give it a go! If you like action, mystery and some gore with an aftertaste of candied oranges and romance you will love this book!

5/5 wooden malaika's!

I read/reviewed the first book in this series but was unsure of whether or not to continue. It sounds like the series picks up!
